What is a titanium chelate adhesion promoter?

A titanium chelate adhesion promoter is an additive evaluated at the interface between a compatible ink and substrate. AP-X is intended for controlled trials in nitrocellulose- and polyurethane-based printing inks. Film treatment, binder choice, solvent balance, addition level and press conditions still determine the final adhesion result.

Can AP-X be evaluated in both NC and PU inks?

Yes. AP-X is intended for compatible nitrocellulose (NC) and polyurethane (PU) ink systems, including flexographic, gravure and reverse-print structures. The additive level, ink stability and final adhesion must be established in the intended binder and solvent package rather than transferred unchanged between formulations.

Which checks should be included in an AP-X trial?

Test initial and aged adhesion on the actual production substrate together with ink stability, colour, viscosity and print behaviour. For reverse printing, include the intended lamination structure and adhesive in the evaluation. Changes in substrate treatment or solvent balance can alter the result and should be recorded.

How should the AP-X addition level be selected?

Use the current product documentation as the starting reference, then run a controlled addition-level series in the complete ink. Compare adhesion, viscosity, storage stability and print behaviour at each level. A single universal dose is not appropriate because the binder, solvent blend, pigment and substrate all affect performance.

What information is needed for an AP-X sample enquiry?

Provide the ink chemistry, print process, substrate and treatment level, solvent blend, pigment, current adhesion result and downstream converting process. For laminated work, include the adhesive and laminate structure. This information helps the technical team assess whether AP-X is a relevant trial candidate and provide current documentation.
